Planning your Event
When you book an event at the Brownsword Hall, we will send you a form so that you can let us know what facilities you need from us and also the services, decorations or equipment that you want to bring into the hall (for example a bar, a DJ, outside caterers etc).
Our helpful caretakers will set up tables and chairs according to the layout that you specify and put them away afterwards. They will make sure that all the equipment you ask for is in place and powered up, ready for you to use. They will also answer any questions you may have about how things work.
When booking your event, please remember to include sufficient time to set up your own equipment, decorations etc before your guests arrive and to clear everything away after they leave
Activity Groups
Dancing, singing, yoga, Pilates, keeping fit: the unique design of the Brownsword Hall makes it a wonderful venue for activity groups. Its solid oak floor is ideal for dancing or exercising. Its vaulted ceiling, with massive timber beams keeps it airy and cool.
Many of our regular activity groups like to keep the main floor largely empty, with a few chairs around the sides. We have fans available for when the weather is particularly hot and the hall is centrally heated in the cooler months.
Celebrations and Parties
Whether it is children’s birthday party or a wedding anniversary, the Brownsword Hall provides a magnificent setting for a special occasion. Let us know how you want the hall to be set up, what kitchen facilities you need, how you plan to use the sound system and we will make sure that everything is ready for you.
It is important also to tell us about any services you plan to use from outside, such as caterers or a bouncy castle, so that we can make sure that they know how to use our equipment and avoid any health and safety issues.
Special Interests and Entertainment
The Brownsword Hall is a very flexible venue. Whether you are making plans for a chess club, an art class, a craft fair, a concert or a lecture, we will make sure that the hall is arranged so that everyone feels comfortable, can see what is going on and enjoy the event.
In addition to the layout of tables and chairs, you may want to use our microphones, lectern, sound system and projection screen, as well as our kitchen facilities.
Business Meetings
Are you looking for a change from bland, airless meeting rooms, where people’s concentration begins to fade after an hour or so?
Then the Brownsword Hall is an ideal alternative. The building is smart, prestigious and interesting in its own right, while offering resources that business meetings need.
We can provide excellent Wi-Fi for participants joining your meeting via video, flip-charts, whiteboards and a large screen. For formal presentations you may want to use our sound system, microphones and lectern. When it is time to take a break, our kitchen facilities are available for refreshments.
